She's continually
slipping
away
from
me.

She floats
silently
ghost-like
in our apartment.

Her dimming eyes
rarely leaving
the bay window
as she watches
the world
Outside.

Yet,
she won't join,
preferring
to flit along
the periphery
as a mere apparition.

Occasionally,
she'll meet my gaze,
begging,
longing,
wanting
me
to
let
her
go,
to
let
her
fade
away
from
me.

Go Wolverines!

I sit with my father
Watching the game.
He laughs and cheers loudly
While I sit, silent and solemn
I take a bite of my pop-tart,
Toasted far too much
The crusty purple pastry

falls

to

pieces

In my hands
Now I stay here,
Attempting to repair
The irreparable
